The 5 songs guaranteed to make you smile

I've had a fantastic weekend in London. It was spent dancing in the Strawberry Moons club on Regent Street, watching lots of music channels whilst feeling a bit tender, playing dance mat and listening to my I-Pod on the train. There was lots of music this weekend and it got me thinking as to which 5 songs are guaranteed to put a smile on my face. Songs and music relate so much to memories- everyone has a soundtrack to their lives.

Kokomo- The Beach Boys

This songs makes me think of in-jokes and a fantastic holiday. My sister and I are obsessed by Stewie from Family Guy. We are always quoting him and always watching clips- he is brilliant. In one episode, he goes on a tanning bed and starts singing his own version of this song which we then started singing all the time. The episode was on the plane on the way to Floria and then when we went on holiday to Florida we were in the Blizzard Beach water park and the song came on. We were so happy!

Hoppípolla- Sigur Rós

My boyfriend Chris and I got together whilst in Uni. He lived in the flat above me which made the start of our relationship a bit unconventional. There wasn't the usual dating- it was more just hanging out in our flats. We spent a lot of time just listening, and usually falling asleep to music. This was one of the songs we listened to all the time- I told him about it and he loved it too. It also reminds me of Planet Earth and I just adore it.

Time to Pretend- MGMT

Last year, after graduating from University I spent part of the summer doing exam marking. It was spent in a room with lots of students who were my age and even though the work was dull, it was such a laugh. It was spent playing stupid games to pass the time and talking about everything and anything. I met some great people. When getting ready for work I would always listen to this song as it was my absolute favourite of the time.

Circle of Life from The Lion King- Elton John

This song makes me so happy! Even just the opening notes make me feel all smiley. I love love LOVE the Lion King (despite it making me cry lots). All the songs are fantastic and I really want to see the stage show. I've seen a few minor productions in Disney World and the songs just fill me with happiness.

Buzzin- Shwayze ft Cisco

When Chris and I travelled around Europe for a month we spent a few days in Florence, Italy. The days were boiling hot and after a day looking round the gorgeous city, or doing a day trip to Rome, we would return to our hotel and just lay on the bed enjoying the air con. We'd always have the music channels on in the background and this song always came on. It now forever reminds me of our trip, and Italy in particular.
