Review: Liz Earle Superbalm

Product

Liz Earle Superbalm

Price

£15 for a 30g jar
£4.50 for a 5g jar
I was sent this product for review and am not being paid to write this

What does it claim to do?

"Our ‘emergency’ skin salve rescues and soothes skin. Made from pure plant oils and natural waxes plus shea butter, it gently softens and calms dry skin on hands, heels, elbows, lips and helps condition nails and cuticles." - Liz Earle

What do I think?

I have been absolutely loving the products from the Liz Earle range however I am not a fan of this and it is all because of the scent. It's hard to describe but it has a very strong scent and almost gives me a headache. Some of the ingredients are lavender, beeswax, rosehip and chamomile which may contribute towards this.

In terms of the actual product and how it works- this is good. It has the same purpose as products such as the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, Lush's lemony flutter and a (far cheaper) vaseline. Even though I don't like the scent I have been trying it on my cuticles, soles of my feet and around my nose (a cold has made it all horrible and sore) and it sinks in quickly and definitely does the job of moisturising. It will also last a really long time as there is a lot of product in the 30g pot.

Despite this, scent is important to me (especially when being applied to my nose!) and so I can't say I am a fan of this.

Would I repurchase?

I'm afraid not!

Contraversial! Shame about the smell and I do sometimes think that the cheaper stuff (Vaseline!) manages to pretty much do the same job. Hope the poorly nose is recovering xx

I really like this, I loved the smell and found it very helpful for cuticles and lips etc. I'm not a great fan of mineral oil alternatives like vasaline as the can't sink in only trap moisture that is already present.

What I would say is that I'd be unlikely to repurchase the 30g tub as it went lumpy/gritty before I'd finished it. In future I'll stick with the 5g size. x

Such a shame about the strange smell! I'm very particular about scents too. Especially around your nose! :)

I loved the texture of this product but just couldn't stand the scent either!!!! Ended up using it on my feet with socks over the top as an intensive treatment....bit of a waste of money though.
